Welcome back, my friends – hope you had fun exploring with Siri and me on my Tropical Vacay in NYC Part 2.
By the way, not only had I never had Blue Moon beer before this trip, but I was probably the only “avocado toast virgin” in California.
And wouldn’t you know? I had to go to a surfers’ café in New York – close to the houseboat where Siri and I were staying – to try it, fried egg and all!
Have you ever tried Caribbean food? Think “cheap eats,” fabulous flavor, copious quantities, and plenty of spice….
Welcome to Goody’s BBQ Chicken and Ribs, also featuring Jamaican-esque curried goat and jerk chicken.
We both loved the food so much that we got takeout twice, to eat on the houseboat, with enough “plan aheads” (our euphemism for “leftovers”) for a beach picnic. Pink bubbly made it extra festive!
By the way, when I mentioned that the marina where Gypsy (Siri’s friend’s houseboat) is docked is across a bay from JFK Airport, I didn’t tell you how much fun it is to sit on the boat at sunset and watch the planes taking off.
What about the noise factor? Well, it’s amazing how fast you can get used to it….
Next time, we’ll head to Brooklyn and Westchester for a couple of amazing pasta meals. I know it’ll be worth waiting for!
